RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s land, sea and air customs ports recorded 965 seizures of prohibited items as part of ongoing efforts by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority to enhance security and protect society from illicit goods. The seized items included 114 cases involving narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Captagon pills and other drugs, in addition to 437 cases of other prohibited materials. Customs officials also foiled attempts to smuggle 1,950 items of tobacco and tobacco derivatives, along with 10 cases involving undeclared cash and three cases related to weapons and their accessories. The authority said it remains committed to tightening customs controls on the Kingdom’s imports and exports to safeguard public security, in close coordination with partner government agencies. ZATCA urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by reporting violations through the dedicated hotline 1910, via email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international number 009661910. The authority said all reports are handled with strict confidentiality, with financial rewards offered for verified information.
