View this post on InstagramFormed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, The Flaming Lips is a psychedelic indie rock band that currently consists of Wayne Coyne, Derek Brown, Matt Duckworth Kirksey, AJ Slaughter and Tommy McKenzie. At the start of their career, they recorded their first four albums with the indie record label, Restless in the early 1980s and 1990s, before moving to Warner Records. In 1992, they released Hit to Death in the Future Head, followed by Transmissions from the Satellite Heart a year later. The hit single of the latter, "She Don't Use Jelly," broke the band into the mainstream.
The group's 1999 and 2002 records, The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, respectively, were also very popular and received positive acclaim from fans and critics. The last time they released a new studio album was American Head in 2020, and recently put out two different albums celebrating the anniversary and success of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Since their formation more than 40 years ago, The Flaming Lips have been nominated for a BRIT Award and won three Grammy Awards.
