The Official Charts Company revealed that her 2001 track “Not Such an Innocent Girl” is the U.K.’s bestselling single of the week on the tally dated Jan. 23. The bump in sales follows the online speculation about Victoria and husband David Beckham’s eldest son Brooklyn’s allegations about their behavior at his wedding to Nicola Peltz in 2022.

Sales and streams of the track have surged 19,615% week-on-week, according to the OCC, and it tops the Official Singles Sales chart and Official Download Chart, which tracks song sales across digital platforms. It’s not enough to power it to the top 100 of the Official Singles Chart, which combines streams and sales; Dave and Tems’ “Raindance” is the Official Singles Chart No. 1 for the charts dated Jan. 23.

“Not Such an Innocent Girl” originally peaked at No. 6 on the Official Singles Chart in 2001, one of four top 10 solo hits following the Spice Girls’ disbandment in 2000. Fans of Posh Spice and the Beckham family have been campaigning for the track to hit the charts again in the wake of the family schism.

Brooklyn, 31 — who now goes by Brooklyn Peltz Beckham — shared a statement on his Instagram account on Jan. 19 saying that he was estranged from his famous parents and siblings.

“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed,” he wrote. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

He added: “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”

In the statement, Brooklyn alleged that his parents were trying to come between him and his wife, Nicola. He claimed that his mom “cancelled making Nicola’s dress at the eleventh hour,” and that she “hijacked” their first dance and danced “very inappropriately on me in front of everyone.”

Soccer icon David seemingly responded to the statement earlier this week when asked about the role of social media in childhood, saying that social media should be “used for the right reasons.” He added that “children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids.”
