Mrs. Linda Sullins Bush

With much love and care during her final illness, the family of Mrs. Linda Sullins Bush mourns her passing which was Thursday morning January 22, 2026 at 8:39 a.m. at the Highpoint Health – Riverview @Ascension St. Thomas where she was admitted January 21st. Mrs. Bush, a homemaker of the Pea Ridge Community, was 83.

Mrs. Bush is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Private graveside services from the Chestnut Mound Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery are scheduled for Friday with Bro. Jeff Burton officiating. Burial will follow beside her husband.

She was one of four children, two daughters and two sons of the late James Ray Sullins who died March 27, 1970 in an automobile accident while exiting a Forks River School basketball tournament, and Ella B. White who died November 14, 1984 at the age of 76, and was born Linda Jean Sullins in the Buffalo Valley Community of Putnam County on February 15, 1942.

She suffered the loss of her only son, Joey Glenn Bush, who died at the age of 60 on November 19, 2024. She was also preceded n death by a sister, Geneva Sullins Boyd who died September 12, 2006 at the age of 75 and a brother, Bobby Jason Sullins who died May 10, 2022 at the age of 86.

Mrs. Bush was a 1960 graduate of the Baxter Seminary.

At the home of the late Eld. Phocian Gibbs on October 17, 1959, Linda was united in marriage to Maggart Community native Billy Joe Bush, who was the son of the late Sidney (Sid) and Gracie Massey Bush.

She was the retired office manager for the former, Petty-Green-Roe & Garrett Clinic in Carthage located in the former Smith County Hospital in Carthage.

Mrs. Bush was a non-denominational Christian.

Surviving are her two daughters, Tressa Bush of the Pea Ridge Community, Melody Bush Oldham and husband Sammy of the Tanglewood Community; three grandchildren, Hannah Bush Botton and husband Martin of Hartsville and her daughter, Marin; Kerri Oldham Gibbs and husband Daniel and their daughters, Ella Grace, Ruby Jo, and Cora Mae; Kristen Oldham Sanders and husband John and their Children, JoLynn, JayLee, and Quin, a brother, Aaron Sullins of Florida also survives.

The family has requested memorials to the Chestnut Mound Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
