On his podcast, “The Rush“, Crosby talked about the improbable TD pass from Williams to Kmet to tie the game with just seconds left in the 4th quarter of Sunday’s Divisional Round matchup with the Rams. Obviously, the Bears came up short in overtime, but clearly that throw caught the eye of a lot of people around the football world
“I still can’t get over that throw, that was one of the craziest…I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was sitting there in silence like…’what the f***”…when he started sprinting directly back. I’m like, it’s over, and this m*********** threw it from the 40 over the DBs, that was one of the craziest plays I’ve seen ever.”

On the “Let’s Go” podcast with Crosby, Matthew Stafford, Jim Gray, and Peter King, Crosby had even more good things to say about Caleb Williams. He talked again about the throw against the Rams, but then also spoke about how having a quarterback like that boosts not only the offense, but the football team as a whole, saying, “When you have a guy like that at QB, it permeates through the whole team.”

Look, I’m fully aware that Maxx Crosby being a fan of Caleb Williams and praising that throw by no means indicates he wants to be a Chicago Bear or will be a Chicago Bear after this offseason, as his stint with the Raiders appears to be coming to an end.
However, I’m still recovering from the heartbreaking end to the Bears’ season. I’m not over it, and the more removed from it I get, the more I feel like it was a missed opportunity. So, right now, I need something to get my hopes up and get me excited. And having one of the league’s top defensive linemen and pass rushers (which, as we know, is a massive position of need for Ben Johnson’s team this offseason) speak so highly of Caleb Williams’ skill does just that.
For what it’s worth, Crosby also defended Ben Johnson’s decision to kick the extra point and not go for two after that touchdown, essentially saying it’s tough to pin the hopes of an entire season on just one play. Plus, if you recall, he had some high praise for the Bears’ young QB after Williams engineered a game-winning drive against the Raiders earlier this season.
I don’t know if the Bears are going to trade for Crosby. I’m sure they’ll call Vegas and have some discussions. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn’t, but from now until the day Crosby is moved, every time he speaks about anything Bears-related, I’m almost certain I’ll over-analyze it. Bring him to Chicago, Ryan Poles (provided the asking price isn’t ridiculous, of course).
