Getting more Chicago Cubs games on exclusive national broadcasts in the current environment is sometimes a mixed bag. On the one hand, it means the games sometimes get time-shifted, don’t feature our home broadcast crew, and may appear on a streamer that not everyone has. On the other hand, it means the games are available for some folks to watch who might not otherwise have Marquee, and, in theory, it can be some nice additional exposure for the team and the players.
That’s especially nice when the games are put on a national, old-school, over-the-air broadcast station. And ESPN has announced that two such Cubs games are going to be on ABC this summer:
ESPN announces 3 marquee 2026 #MLB regular-season weekend games airing exclusively on ABC ?️ June 14: Cubs vs Giants?️ June 27: Yankees vs Red Sox ?️ Aug. 16: Cardinals vs Cubs Details: t.co/cT9SI7SbuR pic.twitter.com/fR056L54ag
— ESPN PR (@ESPNPR) January 21, 2026Get out your rabbit ears on June 14 and August 16, so you can watch the Cubs against the Giants and Cardinals, respectively. Pretty cool that the Cubs show up in two of the three games ESPN is putting on ABC.
The Cubs also are featured on a few of the new NBC games, and I’m sure there will be other pick-ups coming.
Perhaps that takes a little of the sting out of losing so many more Spring Training games on Marquee this year …
