Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Para swimmer Aiden Stivers, a two-time American record holder and member of the U.S. Paralympic National Team, has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of St. Thomas – Houston beginning in the fall of 2026.

“I am BEYOND excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. I am so grateful for everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Thank you to my parents for always being there for me, and to my sister and my brothers for supporting me in everything I do. I am also grateful for all of my friends, teammates, and coaches who have helped me grow along the way. A huge thank you to Coach Huston for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. GO CELTS!!!”

A senior at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Indiana, Stivers has competed for the Royals since his freshman year. In addition to swimming for his high school team, he currently trains year-round with Southeastern Swim Club, where he specializes in free, breast and IM.

Stivers primarily competes in the SB9 Para Swimming classification, which includes breaststrokers with coordination affected at a low level in the legs, movement moderately affected in the hip joint or feet, highly affected in one foot or minor limb absence.

At the 2025 Reserve Championships in February, Stivers posted three lifetime best performances. He won the 100 breast in 1:04.55 and took the runner-up spot in the 200 IM in 2:16.86, clocking personal best times in both events. He also logged a best time in the 50 back (28.71) as the leadoff on the 200 medley relay, helping his team to a 1st-place finish overall.

A few weeks later, Stivers turned in another personal best time at the Indiana Swimming Senior Championships. He finished 61st in the 200 breast, recording a lifetime best time of 2:22.35. He also contested the 100 breast (1:05.59) and 200 IM (2:20.63).

Stivers competed at the 2025 World Para Swimming World Series (LCM) in April, earning a second swim in both of his events. He won the 100 breast in a personal best time of 1:11.71 and placed 11th in the 200 IM in 2:42.12 after logging a season-best time of 2:34.70 during prelims.

The 2025 U.S. Paralympic Swimming National Championships (LCM) saw Stivers post a series of strong swims over the course of the competition. He won the 100 breast (1:15.62) and placed 3rd in the 200 IM (2:41.87) and 4th in the 50 free (31.30). He also contested the 200 back (2:57.32) and 200 breast (2:44.72).

Stivers currently holds two Paralympic Swimming American Records in long course meters; he set the record in the 100 breast (1:10.56) at the 2025 World Championships in Singapore and in the 200 breast (2:36.35) at the 2025 SSC Summer Sizzler in June.

A Division III program, St. Thomas is led by head coach Hanna Huston, who served on the staff for the 2025 World Para Swimming Championships. The Celts compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, with the men’s team finishing 8th overall at last season’s conference championships.

To earn a second swim at the 2025 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, it took times of 1:03.94/2:20.55 in the 100/200 breast and 2:02.09 in the 200 IM, putting Stivers outside the cutoff in each of his top events. Based on the Celts’ performances so far this season, Stivers would rank 4th in the 200 breast, 5th in the 100 breast and 6th in the 200 IM on the team itself, bringing some added depth to the roster.

Currently set to join Stivers in Houston in the fall is Brody Garcia, who primarily specializes in free, breast and fly and should make for a strong training partner over the next four years.
