With impending weather on the horizon for much of the south and east coast, the dual meet between major programs NC State and Virginia has been moved to a one-day meet, after initially being scheduled for a two-day contest to be held on Friday, the 23rd, and Saturday, the 24th.

According to NC State Athletics, the one-day meet between the Wolfpack and Cavaliers in Raleigh will begin at 11:30 AM ET with diving, followed by the swimming portion at 2:00 PM ET.

Earlier today, SwimSwam reported the scheduled dual meet between Liberty and Campbell being moved to a similar one day meet that will also take place on Friday. That meet was set to take place on Liberty’s campus in Lynchburg, Virginia, which sits about 150 miles north of Raleigh.

Friday in Raleigh currently predicts a high in the high 40s with around a 40% chance of rain.

The storm, named Winter Storm Fern by the Weather Channel, is expected to impact the southern part of the country, like Texas and Oklahoma, while spreading to the east into the Carolinas and later moving up towards northeast areas such as New York and western Pennsylvania.

Forecasts for the weekend in Raleigh show the high temperatures hovering right around freezing, with Saturday night temperatures dropping into the teens. According to the latest Weather Channel forecast, the area could expect 1-3 inches of snow during the day, along with 10-15 mph winds. That evening could bring 8-12 inches of snow and ice, with 85-93% chance of precipitation all day.

Sunday sees more snow and wintery mix throughout the day, with 1-3 inches predicted and another 60% chance of precipitation at night, with the high temperatures sitting around 24 degrees on Sunday.

Raleigh, a city that averages just four to six inches of snowfall annually, sits right on the south edge of one of the regions expected to get the heaviest snowfall of the weekend, other cities in the area include Greensboro (NC), Roanoke (VA), and Blacksburg (VA).
