ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Bitter cold weather for Tuesday with temps in the teens and the feel like windchill below zero at times. Gusts 20-30mph will bring the chill and also some blowing snow in the open countryside. Local snows off Lake Erie will bring some light accumulations to parts of the Finger Lakes into Monday afternoon and evening. The band has weakened this morning but may flare up a little as it begins to move back north later today before dissipating overnight. Coating to an inch for some with any higher totals confined to parts of Genesee and Wyoming County.
On Wednesday a clipper system will move through with a general light snow late morning into the early afternoon. Breezy and not as bitter cold as temps climb to near 30. Snow amounts will be around an inch. Another front will arrive Thursday with snow showers and falling temps. Lake snow will develop once again off Lake Erie and may bring a few heavier bursts of snow as temps fall into the teens later in the day.
Arctic air settles into the region Friday into the weekend. A large storm will bring widespread snow and ice across the southern part of the country and then head towards the east coast. At this time the heavier precipitation looks to stay to our south and east but will need to monitor for any local snow impacts this weekend.
