BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott after nine seasons. General Manager Brandon Beane will lead the search for a new head coach.
The Bills have not released a formal list of candidates for the position. However, there are several potential options so let’s take a look at who could be McDermott’s successor
FAMILY TIES
The Bills have made the playoffs for seventh-straight seasons and culture seems to be a big reason why. So it seems possible that Beane will want to go with a guy that he, and the roster, are familiar with
Brian Daboll, who spent four seasons as the Bills’ offensive coordinator, could be considered. Daboll helped develop quarterback Josh Allen but had a 20-40-1 record as head coach of the New York Giants.
If the team looks internally, current offensive coordinator Joe Brady is a possibility. Brady’s offense ranked fourth in points per game this year, and he has been interviewing for head coach openings.
Davis Webb, who was Josh Allen’s backup from 2019 to 2021, is now the offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos. He might be a sleeper pick.
