And now, another original star of the popular franchise has had his say, with John Hannah teasing that a return to the action-adventure series "would be fun to do" – 27 years after he last starred as Jonathan Carnahan.
Asked if he'd heard anything about a return amid the recent reports, he responded: "Not officially. I mean, I've heard and seen the rumours same as everybody else, and that would be fun to do. It would be fun to hook up with everybody again."
He continued that he "can't imagine" how producers were planning on bringing all the characters back together again, but conceded that he wasn't a writer and adding: "We'll leave that with those who who have those skills."
"[Fraser] said that what they were looking to do was bring the original cast back together again," he said. "Certainly, in terms of Brendan and Rachel [Weisz], bringing them back together, and Rachel was up for it, by all accounts.
He added: "When I was first offered The Mummy, It was a bit like, 'I'm a serious actor, What do I want to go and do that kind of nonsense for?' But these are good family fun films, and if they've got a good... I mean, if they asked me to do it, I'll do it. Let's not be cute or anything, you know. But we'll see what happens. I honestly have no more idea than you, from what I've read and stuff!"
