The Blackhawks lost again last night. The Bruins came in playing really well, and controlled most of the game even though the Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the first period. Where some of the Blackhawks’ problems have come in the last two games has been trying to do much. Jason Dickinson talked about maybe trying to do one thing too many too often. And his head coach agree that keeping things simple has worked — and the Hawks got away from that last night.
“When you’re pressing instead of taking what’s given to you, you’re hoping there’s an extra play because you want to score,” Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill added after the game. “Yes, we haven’t scored, and it’s been hard for us to score. But when we’ve found success, we took what was given.”
The Blackhawks will practice on Sunday. Frank Nazar is expected to join the team. And, if there were emotions in the United Center last night, just wait until Jonathan Toews comes out on Monday.
Hey, the Bears play this evening. Connor Bedard knows that, and he showed up repping Caleb Williams last night. The Bears’ quarterback shouted out the photo in his Instagram story, too. — NHL (@NHL) January 17, 2026 Last night’s pregame ceremony was pretty remarkable. To see that many former champions back together on the ice was special. And you could see them feeling the emotions as they stood on the red carpet during the National Anthem. It was a big, loud crowd last night and those former Blackhawks got another reminder of what it was like to be in the middle of it all.a picture worth a thousand words pic.twitter.com/218UTWF9LN

— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) January 17, 2026 A good piece here from Ben Pope on Bedard having some consistency with his linemates this year — something we talked about a lot here during his first two seasons. Blashill has made trying to find and keep consistent line a priority. At times, the chemistry has been really good. But there have also been times when a blender might not be a bad thing. We’ll see what they do when Nazar comes back.Connor Bedard's linemates were jumbled so often last year. Not this year. He's spent 63% of his 5v5 ice time with Burakovsky, 50% with Greene. That's true throughout the Blackhawks' lineup, too. Jeff Blashill has prioritized line continuity.New story: t.co/4cZKu24VQa
