Team Scores Vermont – 155.5 Rhode Island – 144.5

How It Happened Six different Rhode Island women won individual events – including a pair of victories for freshman Molly Beckwith – but the Rams came up just short in a 155.5-144.5 loss to Vermont Saturday.

Beckwith won both the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard freestyle races for URI (3-6). The Rams also got wins from Rylee Kelly (500 freestyle), Logan Norrid (100 breaststroke), Julianna Tyler (200 butterfly), Emily Whiteneck (3-meter dive) and Olivia Winslow (1-meter dive).

However, Vermont (3-1) won both of the relay races. The Catamounts took first and third place in the 400-yard medley to outscore Rhody 13-4 in the event. Then in the meet’s final event, the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Catamounts took first and URI placed second and third, giving Vermont an 11-6 points edge in the race. By outscoring URI 24-10 in the relay races, it allowed Vermont to escape Kingston with the win.

Standouts from the Pool

Freshman Emily Whiteneck earned her first career win when she scored 303.08 in the 3-meter dive, just edging teammate Olivia Winslow (300.68). In the 1-meter dive, the duo switched places. Winslow won the event with a score of 296.18, followed by Whiteneck (276.60) and Kelsey Kreuscher (266.48). Winslow remained unbeaten in eight events in the 1-meter dive this season. The scores for Whiteneck in both events represented career bests. Molly Beckwith continued her impressive freshman campaign, winning her 10th and 11th races of the year. She won the 200-yard freestyle for the fifth time in six events with a time of 1:50.25. She added a win in the 100-yard butterfly (55.76 seconds), her third win in that race over six meets. Julianna Tyler victory in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.36) was her fastest time in the event this season. Team captain Logan Norrid won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.67), placed third in the 100-yard butterfly (57.49) and was part of the 400-yard medley relay team that took second place. Her time in the 100-yard breaststroke was the second fastest of her career, behind only her performance at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship, when she swam 1:04.21. Rylee Kelly won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.73, which took nearly 12 seconds off her time from Monday’s meet at New Hampshire. It was her third win in the 500 this season, and her fourth individual victory of the year overall.

Up Next Rhode Island competes at home for the final time in 2025-26 when it hosts Central Connecticut State on Saturday, Jan. 24. The meet – which will be the team’s Senior Day – begins at 1 p.m.
