PENFIELD, N.Y. — The First Baptist Church of Penfield hosted a Flapjack Benefit Breakfast Saturday morning, supporting the Penfield Coalition of Churches for Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity.
Attendees enjoyed pancakes, pure maple syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit topping, whipped cream, and coffee at the breakfast.
According to the Habitat for Humanity website, in 2023, six Greater Rochester Habitat faith-based coalitions approved a joint coalition with the mission of financing and building a Habitat home each year.
The Interim CEO Clayton Cloen said the coalition, known as the Greater Rochester Interfaith Builders (GRIB), is building homes quicker since forming in 2023, successfully raising funds for four homes so far.
“So they leverage all their memberships or volunteers or their finances. So the church is now building at a faster rate than they were. We’re actually— GRIB is building two houses for us this year,” said Cloen.

First Baptist Church hosts a Flapjack Benefit Breakfast each month to benefit a selected local charity each month. In November, the church hosted a breakfast benefiting Refugees Helping Refugees.
