HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving Team began 2026 with a 223-187 win over the Duquesne Dukes Friday evening in the Fredrick A. Fitch Natatorium.

The Herd won 15 of the 22 events.

Lauren McNamara swept the Butterfly events taking the 50, 100 and 200 as Elyse Wood captured wins in the 50, 100 and 200 Freestyle. Abby Adams picked up three victories in the 50, 100 and 200 Backstroke.

Molly Warner also swept a trio of events winning the 100, 200 and 400 IM. Isabelle Cameron won the 50 Breaststroke with Mady Akin coming on top in the 100 Breaststroke.

Marshall’s final win of the night came in the 200 Medley Relay with Adams, Cameron, McNamara and Wood combining for the win.

In diving, Ella Houk took third on the 1m boards with Ally Humbert finishing third on 3m.

Huntington, W.Va. – The Duquesne swimming and diving team continued its 2026 season Friday night, falling 223-187 at Marshall inside the Fredrick A. Fitch Natatorium.

The Dukes earned four individual victories and one relay win on the evening, led by a standout performance from sophomore Sierra Snow. Snow captured first place in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:51.98. She followed with another win in the 500 freestyle (5:01.53) before completing a sweep of the distance events by claiming gold in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:21.19.

Sophomore Jess Burns also delivered a top finish for Duquesne, winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:21.79. Senior Sydney Severini placed second in the same event, posting a time of 2:22.05. Severini added three additional runner-up finishes on the night, taking second in the 50 breaststroke (30.25) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.67), and swimming the second leg of the 200-yard medley relay, which finished second in 1:46.10.

The 50-yard butterfly opened Friday’s competition, with sophomore Rachel Howard earning a silver medal after posting a time of 26.05. Freshman Emily Kyre followed closely behind, securing third place by touching the wall at 26.16. In the 50 freestyle, freshman Lucy Backus claimed second place with a time of 23.69 and later added another silver in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 51.76.

Sophomore Ashley Freel delivered a pair of strong performances in the individual medley events. She finished second in the 100 IM with a time of 59.98, while freshman Kira Schrecongost earned bronze in the event at 1:00.91. Freel added another runner-up finish in the 200 IM, touching the wall at 2:05.64, before closing her night with a second-place effort in the 400 IM (4:27.27).

Relay events capped off the meet, beginning with the 200-yard medley relay team of Freel, Severini, Howard, and Kyre, which earned a second-place finish in 1:46.10. The Dukes closed the night on a high note as the 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Kaitlyn Connors, Burns, Snow, and Backus captured gold with a winning time of 1:35.92.

UP NEXT Duquesne returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 17, competing in a tri-meet against Marshall and Bowling Green. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

ATHENS, Ohio – The Bowling Green women’s swim and dive team suffered its first loss of the season Friday, falling 244-56 to Ohio in a Mid-American Conference dual at the Ohio University Aquatic Center.

Natalia Mayorga led the Falcons in diving, placing second on the 3-meter board (275.18) and third on the 1-meter (246.45).

In the pool, Caroline Toledo paced Bowling Green with a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:31.11). Grace Bodrock added a third place showing in the 200 butterfly (2:05.06) and helped the Falcons place third in the 200 freestyle relay alongside Emily McNicol, Sierra Newton and Annie Berrow.

Samia Becdach highlighted the sprints, finishing fifth in the 100 freestyle (51.50) and fourth in the 100 individual medley (59.94).

“Today was a rough one for us, but OU is a top program in the MAC,” Bowling Green Head Coach Tanner Barton. “They’ll rival Akron for the championship. Tomorrow is a new day and we’re off to WV!”

Bowling Green continues its road trip Saturday with a double dual against Marshall and Duquesne at 11 a.m. at the Frederick A. Finch Natatorium in Huntington, W.Va. Marshall (3-1) defeated Duquesne (2-2) 223-187 on Friday, its first dual in nearly a month after a 172.5-121.5 win at FIU. Duquesne has dropped two duals in the past week, including a 165-135 loss to Buffalo.
