Woman, 70, Dead After Riding Universal Studios Florida’s ‘Mummy’ Ride ...Middle East

News by : (Us magazine) -

A 70-year-old woman died in November 2025 after riding on Universal Studios Florida’s “Revenge of the Mummy” enclosed roller-coaster.

People cited a report from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) — which was updated on Thursday, January 15 — about the deadly incident, which took place on November 25, 2025. The woman allegedly became unresponsive while riding the roller-coaster and later died at a local hospital.

The woman’s name was withheld from the Florida government report and there are few other confirmed details about the incident that are publicly available at this time.

“Due to privacy-related concerns, the Department does not receive updates to initial assessments of a patron’s condition,” the FDACS report read.

A Universal Studios Florida spokesperson told Us Weekly: “We do not comment on pending claims.”

Florida affiliate WFLA reported that there have been 21 registered incidents on the “Revenge of the Mummy” since it opened to the public at Universal Studios Florida on May 21, 2004. Reported injuries have ranged from guests feeling dizzy to accounts of a seizure and even a fractured vertebrae.

“Revenge of the Mummy” was created for the New York-themed section of Universal Studios Florida at a reported cost of $40 million. The Florida version of the roller-coaster – which was manufactured by Premier Rides — reaches speeds of around 40 mph and drops riders 39 feet in one pivotal jump scare. (Different versions of “Revenge of the Mummy” exist at Universal Studios parks in Hollywood and Singapore.)

The enclosed roller-coaster sends riders hurtling through the dark corridors of a haunted tomb in mine carts. One notable segment features the riders’ mine cart plunging nearly 40 feet as they are surrounded by mummified warriors on all sides.

The November 2025 incident is not the only recent death linked to a Universal Studios Florida attraction. Last September, Kevin Rodriguez Zavala died at age 34 after riding on the “Stardust Racers” dual-launched roller-coaster at Universal’s new Epic Universe theme park.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office’s autopsy report cited blunt trauma injuries — including an “intervertebral disk laceration in his neck” and “fractures of the left orbit and nasal cartilage”— as the cause of Zavala’s death, according to Florida’s My13News. The report referenced Dr. Anna Marshall, a bystander, trying to administer life-saving aid to Zavala on the ride platform when she found him slumped over with a badly broken right leg.

However, the Sheriff’s Office noted that a green safety light built into “Stardust Racers” indicated that Zavala was safely secured before his ride vehicle took off.

A spokesperson for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services told My13News in December 2025, “Universal voluntarily invited the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to monitor the investigation of the Epic Universe ‘Stardust Racers’ death.”

“They have been transparent and cooperative throughout this process. We have nothing to add to the work of law enforcement. This was a tragic event, and the appropriate steps are taking place according to the law,” an FDACS spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, a Universal Studios Florida spokesperson told People in a statement the company was “devastated by this tragic event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones.”

“We are fully cooperating with Orange County and the ongoing investigation. The attraction remains closed,” the Universal Studios statement concluded.

Universal Studios settled privately with Zavala’s family in December 2025 while maintaining that “Stardust Racers” was operating properly.

“The family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala and Universal have reached an amicable resolution in this matter,” a family spokesperson told Fox 35 Orlando at the time. “The terms are confidential. The family is grateful for the community’s support and asks for privacy at this time.”

Per Orlando’s WESH, five lawsuits have been filed over injuries reportedly sustained on “Stardust Racers” since the attraction opened at Universal Epic Universe on May 22, 2025.

Attorney Nicholas Spetsas sued Universal in December 2025 on behalf of theme park guests who claimed they experienced severe and permanent injuries while riding “Stardust Racers.” The reported injuries ranged from physical ailments like neck pain and paralysis to cognitive side effects such as mental anguish.

At the time, Universal declined to comment on pending legal matters.
