2026 PRO SWIM SERIES – AUSTIN
January 14-17, 2026 Austin, Texas Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center LCM (50 meters) Psych Sheet (updated) How to Watch Live Results Live Recaps Prelims: Day 1 | Day 2 Finals: Day 1 | Day 2Van Mathias showcased his breaststroke prowess on Day 2in Austin as he claimed the #1 spot in the world in the 50 breast this season in 26.57, just six months after returning to racing. He is now the #3 American in history, behind only Nic Fink (26.45) and Michael Andrew (26.52), but was not the only swimmer to shake up the rankings.
Behind Mathias in the heats yesterday morning was a fellow IU alum in Finn Brooks, who rocketed to a massive best time of 27.05. His previous best of 28.69 was set 18 months ago, but his swim today is a continuation of the big improvements he has made in short course. He had some blistering swims on the World Cup Tour last fall, clocking a new best of 25.75 in the 50, and his time tonight would have only just missed qualifying for Worlds at last summers U.S. Nationals. It also ranks him 8th all-time among U.S. men, and 7th in the world this year.

That shaved 0.04 seconds off his best from June 2023, and moves him up into joint-21st with Matthew Jensen among U.S. men.
Emma Weyant set another personal best in the 200 IM, slicing half a second from her semi-final time in 2:14.23. The majority of that came from a 30.71 final 50, and with a little more front end speed could drop even more time – her second 100 was just three-tenths slower than Summer McIntosh‘s. She has hacked over a second off her former best of 2:15.36 in the event here in Austin.
There were personal bests in the 50 free from both Anna Peplowski and Claire Weinstein, both of whom are better known for longer freestyle events. Peplowski followed up her 100 back best time yesterday with a swim 25.14 to place 4th, lowering her previous best of 25.29, and Weinstein lowered her day-old best of 25.87 to 25.53. After she was 53.72 in the 100 and 16:01.96 in the 1500 this summer, she is showing off some impressive range.
Becca Mann followed up her 1500 swim last night, her fastest since returning to competing 12 months ago after a six year hiatus, with a swim of 4:18.92 in the 400 free in yesterday’s heats. She was yet to swim the event since returning, but her time yesterday was less than three and a half seconds off the 4:15.51 she swam for 8th place at the 2019 Pan American Games, her last recorded swim.
Like Mann, Ryan Erisman followed up a strong 1500 with a standout swim in the 400. He dropped 14 seconds in the longer event on Day 1, before dropping a stunning 3:46.75 to dominate the 400 free final, coming in just 0.74 seconds off his best from last summer. He swam an incredibly even race, splitting 1:52.92-1:53.83.
Behind Erisman, Ilia Sibirtsev neared his lifetime best and Uzbek Record of 3:48.26 from last summer. He was around four tenths slower on both the opening and closing 200 than in his best time, and former Louisville Cardinal looks in good shape to reset that mark later in the year.
