Following Egypt’s receipt of the second installment of European Union (EU) financial aid totaling €1 billion, Angelina Eichhorst, the EU Ambassador to Egypt, emphasized that this disbursement reflects Egypt’s commitment to identifying and implementing key economic and political reforms.
She noted that these measures are paving the way for sustainable growth and development. “I am delighted by the unprecedented momentum of the EU-Egypt partnership, which is yielding numerous tangible results,” the Ambassador stated.
The European Commission announced on Thursday the disbursement of this second €1 billion tranche of Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) to Egypt.
This payment is part of an ongoing €5 billion loan program established under the EU-Egypt Comprehensive and Strategic Partnership. The first €1 billion installment was released at the end of 2024.
The MFA package was approved in March 2024 to support the Egyptian government’s ongoing economic and political reform efforts, focusing on macroeconomic stability, resilience, competitiveness, the business and trade environment, and the green transition—all for the benefit of the Egyptian people.
