Warrant Reveals Timothy Busfield’s Alleged Behavior on ‘Cleaning Lady’ Set ...Middle East

News by : (Us magazine) -

The warrant for Timothy Busfield’s arrest revealed behind-the-scenes details about his alleged behavior on the set of his previous show, Cleaning Lady.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Saturday, January 10, Busfield, 60, was accused by twin brothers of child sex abuse while they worked on the series, The Cleaning Lady, which the West Wing alum joined in season two as director and executive producer. The alleged incidents took place between late 2022 and early 2024.

One child claimed that Busfield touched his “private areas” inappropriately on multiple occasions. The second child told authorities he was allegedly touched by Busfield but did not specify where. Busfield allegedly picked up the boys and would tickle them.

Busfield spoke to law enforcement amid the investigation and denied that there was anything “weird” about his interactions with the children on set. He also claimed that he was “never alone on set without the teacher, a welfare worker or a parent.”

Melissa Gilbert and Husband Timothy Busfield's Relationship Timeline

While the director denied the allegations, he did admit it is possible that he did tickle the boys due to the “playful environment” he claimed he tried to cultivate on set. Busfield and his wife, Melissa Gilbert, also admitted to spending time with the boys and their parents outside the workplace, even once buying the children Christmas presents.

Days later, Busfield turned himself in to the police.

Several workers from the Cleaning Lady series gave on record statements about Busfield’s alleged interactions with the child actors during the investigation.

What PAs Saw on ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Set

Two production assistants, Taylor Trujillo and Lauren Trujillo, were interviewed by an investigator regarding Timothy Busfield’s alleged interactions on the set of the TV series.

Taylor claimed that “over 100 people [would be] working during the production” typically, adding that “everyone had their specific job and did not focus on other jobs that were being done by other personnel.” Taylor further alleged that she remembered the child actors involved in the investigation and “was familiar with the rules that pertained to child actors,” including how they had an on-set teacher who “would watch the children and advocate for them during production.”

She claimed that one of the children’s teachers, Lee Irwin, “seemed to lose track of what the child actors were doing.” Taylor claimed that one of the twins “was stopped unsupervised, riding a skateboard through a live set at one time.” Taylor also alleged that the twins’ parents “weren’t from the industry and did not quite understand their rights as parents.”

Taylor also shared that in her previous experience she “has seen directors alone with child actors when there should have been a parent or a set teacher with them.”

While working with the twins on The Cleaning Lady, Taylor noticed an alleged change in their behavior after Busfield started working on the production in season 2. According to Taylor, the twins were “very happy, bubbly children” when she first met them. A shift appeared to occur, according to her, toward the end of season 2 and as the kids “started acting difficult and were not happy.”

Taylor added that while it was “not allowed and that it was very unprofessional for anyone to touch or tickle anyone,” she claimed that Busfield was “very touchy with certain people” and it “felt that it was very unprofessional” to her.

Lauren told investigators that she “never saw anything that would require” a report to the police. However, she claimed to “see abnormal behavior on the set.” Lauren alleged that she saw Busfield in a room with the twins but did not remember if another adult was present.

She explained that the twins’ on-set teacher (Irwin) would “always” hang out in the “first team holding area where there were no monitors” and the teacher “would lose sight of the children.” She added that Lee was “an older lady” and “didn’t keep a super close eye on the kids.” Lauren echoed similar sentiments as Taylor, explaining that the purpose of having a set teacher is to “help keep an eye on” the kids. Lauren also noted that the twins would “be running around and almost get hit by other crew members carrying stuff” while on set.

Lauren also noticed an alleged shift in behavior with one of the twins “towards the end of season two, and in season three.” She claimed that one child “did not seem like he wanted to act” and “didn’t seem like he wanted to be there.”

What the Child Actors’ Teacher Witnessed on Set

Teacher Lee Irwin spoke to investigators about her experience working with the child actors during filming for The Cleaning Lady. Irwin shared that she “sometimes” monitored the kids while on set when she felt like there could be a “risk.” Other times she would be in the section of the set where “there were no monitors during filming.”

Irwin claimed that she noticed one of the twins “became very reluctant to be on set” after having enthusiasm for the experience in the past. Irwin didn’t understand what prompted the “big change.”

An Anonymous Complaint Was Made About an On Set Incident

According to the warrant, an anonymous person made a complaint through the SAG-AFTRA hotline in February 2023 about an incident that allegedly occurred on the set of The Cleaning Lady in December 2024. The anonymous person claimed they witnessed Busfield allegedly kiss a minor male on the face while the child got a haircut in the makeup and hair trailer.

The anonymous person also claimed that there were photos of Busfield “tickling and caressing the head and body of minor boys.”

What the Hair and Makeup Artists Saw on Set

Danielle Vigil worked on The Cleaning Lady as a hair and makeup artist. According to her interview with investigators, Vigil worked with the two child actors who replaced the twins that accused Timothy Busfield of abuse. Vigil claimed she witnessed Busfield come into the trailer and kiss “the two child actors on their foreheads.” She noted that both the children’s parents were present at the time of the alleged kiss. However, she believed that “the parents did not know the rules and etiquette.”

When asked if that kind of affection was normal, Vigil stated it “usually was not and that a designated set teacher should be with the children for their safety.” Vigil added that “the children were often left unsupervised by the designated set teacher.”

Vigil claimed that everyone avoided Busfield “because he was creepy.” She was also “very afraid of retaliation” for speaking to the authorities.

Additional hair and makeup artist Kristin Kar did not share if she had any knowledge of any inappropriate behavior, per the warrant.
