A former Navy SEAL, Kacey returns home to Montana and continues on in the family ranching business, but eventually becomes Commissioner of the Montana Livestock Association. He has struggled with PTSD, as well as the tug-of-war between his moral compass and his loyalty to the Dutton name. He is married to Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and they have a son, Tate (Brecken Merrill).
