Vaughan’s no stranger to the soap world, having appeared onDays of Our Lives and General Hospital,as well as primetime shows like Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed.
Being cast on Beyond the Gatesmarked the end of what Vaughan referred to as an acting dry spell he had been experiencing since Days of Our Lives stopped utilizing him as much, or, really, at all.
Vaughan has only appeared on two episodes of the CBS soap, including his debut episode. Both appearances were in early December.
In fact, he broke down his situation with Beyond the Gates in an interview with Michael Fairman TV before he debuted on the show.
“I’m not a contract player (at Beyond the Gates). Michele and I are navigating our way through this until something comes about, which is so nice. I have no fear. I’m just creating. And then, if they see something magical and they say, ‘Hey, we need to get you on board longer,’ then it’s something to have a conversation about. If they offered me a contract, I would take it, because it’s been such a reward for me to be here. I feel such a hunger and excitement and creativity that I haven’t felt in a long time,” he shared.
Kial’s absence from the screen is easily explained because he’s a traveling doctor. It also means he can pop back in Nicole’s (Daphnée Duplaix) life, as Beyond the Gates fans were teased about a major love triangle involving Kial, Nicole, and Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley).
