A Ukiah man was convicted of drunken driving during the first trial of 2026 held in Mendocino County Superior Court, the Mendocino County District Attorney reported.

According to DA David Eyster, a jury on Jan. 6 found defendant Martin Z. Keyte, 46, of Ukiah, “guilty of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.”

Eyster described Keyte as being “under the influence of alcohol when he was involved in a roll-over collision (in September of 2025), damaging 50 feet of guardrail, at approximately 4 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 just south of the Highway 253 overcrossing.

Eyster also noted that “Mendocino County Superior Court Judge Charlotte Scott presided over the two-day trial, her first criminal jury trial as a local judge, and the prosecutor who presented the People’s evidence to the jury was Deputy District Attorney Michael Henderson. The law enforcement agencies that provided the testimony … were the California Highway Patrol and the California Department of Justice forensic laboratory.”
