ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Cloudy skies Tuesday with temps into the 40s. A brief shower this evening. Wednesday will start mild with a few showers then colder weather begins to arrive during the afternoon and evening with snow showers developing. An area of steadier snow will develop near and just east of the Genesee Valley into Wednesday night. We need to watch the position of this snow closely as a couple inches could fall over parts of Wayne, Ontario and Yates Counties. If that area of snow develops further west it will have a bigger impact on Monroe and Livingston Counties.
After that system moves out some arctic air pours into the region on Thursday. Temps drop into the single digits with the feel like windchill heading well below zero Thursday morning. With the bitter cold will come lake effect snow off Lake Ontario. Initially the snow will impact much of the Rt. 104 corridor with some accumulations in the morning before the band settles into Wayne County Thursday afternoon. At this time the impacts do not look major, but we need to be ready for a return to midwinter conditions.
Cold sticks around Friday into the weekend with snow showers and local lake snow at times through the weekend. More arctic air will arrive next week as the overall temperature pattern will be below normal into much of next week. Stay tuned to News10 for updates on the snow later this week.
