Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke to reporters Monday ahead of Sunday’s game, and said that tests had revealed Stafford suffered what he called a “minor sprain” on a finger on his throwing hand.
McVay said that he fully expects Stafford to be on the field Sunday when his team takes on the Bears at Soldier Field.
“He’s as tough as it gets, but he’s feeling good,” McVay said. “He was able to push through it, and he’ll be good to go.”
Stafford is considered to be a strong contender for the MVP award after a stellar 2025 season, where he threw for 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns for the Rams. He also threw just eight interceptions on the year, and was named a first-team All-Pro for the first time in his storied NFL career.
In Saturday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Stafford suffered the finger injury during the first half but still put together a strong performance, throwing for 304 yards and three touchdowns as the Rams beat Carolina 34-31 to advance in the postseason.
In eight postseason games with the Rams, Stafford has thrown for 2,392 yards and 18 touchdowns, winning the Super Bowl during the 2021 season.
The Bears and Rams will play Sunday at Soldier Field, with game time yet to be released by the NFL.
