User Experience
Assembly was pretty straightforward, especially if you have put together a sit/stand desk before. The main frame and lift system follow a familiar process, so nothing felt confusing or intimidating. The first thing I did was make sure all the parts were included and then I started attaching the frame pieces to the desktop. There are pre-drilled, reinforced holes on the bottom of the desktop that really helps the installation process. Once the main frame was attached to the bottom of the desk, I connected the legs, which have the motors built in. Finally, I attached the feet to the bottom of the legs, and cable tray and then flipped the desk over. Now, even though the desk is compact, it is still heavy so I would recommend having a second person help with the flip.
After the flip, you install the rail system and any of the added accessories. I only had the monitor mount, but there are several other options you can add.
Using the Platform:4 Elevate Desk day to day has been a solid experience overall. One of my favorite design choices is how the monitor arm mounts directly to the rail system instead of clamping to the desktop. This gives the monitor a cleaner, more floating look and frees up desk space, without the bulky hardware you usually see with traditional monitor arms. The real wood desktop is another big perk in my opinion. The birch top with the light pine stain adds warmth and character, and it feels much more like real furniture than a standard laminate desk.
