This month on “The Changemakers” join for a discussion about starting small businesses, growing sustainably at scale, and finding ways to reach the people you need to succeed with Jordan Meier, a graduate student facilitator for the Launch Local Accelerator!
Launch Local is designed in for residents of Chapel Hill and Carrboro who are exploring a business idea, building their first product, or validating early customer demand. Over a 10-week accelerator, participants will receive hands-on education, mentorship and access to a supportive local founder community to help move their ideas forward. Applications for Spring 2026 open on January 12 and close on February 18, 2026.

“We want to provide a structured educational opportunity for anyone who has an idea,” said Meier. “It doesn’t necessarily need to be a full-fledged business just yet. Someone who’s exploring an idea or has an interest in starting their own business, but might not know where to start yet … We want to give them a structured place to explore their idea, learn a little bit about what it takes to become an entrepreneur, and give them their first steps toward starting their their own business.”
The Spring 2026 cohort will start in early March and run through April. According to official announcements around the program, Launch is actively seeking companies, organizations and individuals with a “vested interest in the local communities” of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, and has a strong focus on the benefits and insights an in-person program like Launch Local can provide to participants.
