ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Mostly cloudy, windy and cold weather for Monday with a few flurries. Tuesday will bring more clouds and a stray shower late in the day. Weather will turn more active midweek. A system will arrive on Wednesday with some rain showers at first as temps will be around 40. Our Threat Tracker will be green through Wednesday but may need an alert for Thursday so stay tuned. Colder air will move back into the region Wednesday night and Thursday with some snow likely. This blast of arctic air will drop temps into the teens and low 20s by Thursday. As the cold settles in some snow will develop. It will be a combination of light areawide snow and locally heavier enhanced snows off Lake Ontario. This set-up may bring a few inches of accumulation to parts of the region so will need to watch closely.
Very cold weather will continue on Friday with a few snow showers. Another arctic front with widespread snow showers and eventual lake flakes will move on for Saturday with some bitter cold settling into the region for next week with an overall cold pattern for the second half of January.
