The Chicago Bears will have a different look when they take the field tonight against the Green Bay Packers.
Sure, cornerback Kyler Gordon will be back on the field after a lengthy absence and stay on injured reserve. Gordon didn’t play in either of the Bears-Packers matchups this year. The same can be said about wide receiver Rome Odunze, who is set to be back in action after practicing all week and being given the medical green light to play affter missing a few weeks with a foot injury. But I’m not necessarily talking about players joining the lineup when I’m talking about the Bears’ different look for Saturday night’s playoff game.
Instead, I am making a reference to Chicago’s football team rocking alternate uniforms this week.

This is an odd and unexpected twist. I hope this team isn’t just aura farming here. After all, I’m a fan of the navy-on-navy uniform combo. But this feels weird when you consider that Chairman George McCaskey said that the team wouldn’t wear alternate uniforms or throwbacks in 2025 to honor his late mother Virginia Halas McCaskey, who was a traditionalist and not a fan of the alt looks.

Technically, last year ended when we flipped the calendar to 2026. So, technically, Chicago’s football team honored her by not wearing alternate uniforms for the year. And that was the right thing to do. Pretty clever, too. But still … I hope this isn’t one of those things we look back at and wonder if this caused a vibe shift in the wrong direction.
