ROCHESTER. N.Y. – Another strong area of low-pressure will be passing just north of Rochester over the next 24 hours. This will usher in another round of gusty winds for later tonight into Sunday. Although not nearly as strong as Friday’s damaging winds, gusts could still exceed 40 to 45 miles per hour at times. The winds will also bring colder temperatures to finish up the weekend. Temperature readings will fall through the 30s tonight and the mercury will be staying in the 30s for Sunday. At this time, our meteorologists do not anticipate a change in the News10NBC Threat Tracker.
This colder air will change the rain showers to snow showers during Sunday. Much of this snow looks to Lake Erie snow. It appears there is no need for a snow shovel as any accumulation will be minor. Most areas will see an inch or less by the end of the day on Sunday. But portions of Wyoming County could see one to three inches of accumulation.
The work week begins on a calm, quiet note as seasonable temperatures are expected for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Any precipitation during the first half of the week will be insignificant. However, sharply colder temperatures will arrive later Wednesday night and last through Thursday and Friday. In fact, wind chills on Thursday may not get out of the single digits.
