ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Back to Green on the Threat Tracker today as the strong winds have passed on. Today the wind is calm for the most part, but blustery conditions return tonight through Sunday. Cloudy skies will dominate today with temperatures in the 30s for the most part, then we reach highs in the low 40s as rain moves in this afternoon. Rain will last til 8-9 PM, with up to a quarter inch expected. No flood concerns.
Tonight after the rain ends, winds will pick back up. Gusts may reach 40 MPH but not anticipating any wind damage in the Rochester region.
Tomorrow blustery winds continue, with some spots west of Rochester perhaps seeing gusts up to 45 MPH in the late morning. Later in the afternoon and evening, the lakeshore could see up to 40-45 MPH gusts. However we are holding off on issuing a Yellow Alert as there is still some uncertainty as per the strength of these winds and they very well may underperform this time around. Again no damaging winds are expected at this time but we will update as need be. Other than the wind, it will be cold with lake effect snow showers first off of Lake Erie, then off Lake Ontario. But accumulations will be minor; a dusting to an inch at most.
Still breezy but mainly dry on Monday with a brief chance of snow showers. Tuesday will be a little less cold, then Wednesday we are tracking our next large storm that will give us rain turning to snow as well as some more blustery winds. Drier, less cloudy but MUCH colder weather follows to close out the workweek.
