“He just shaved his face for the first time in 20 years,” Bunnie, 45, told Extra in an interview published on Wednesday, January 7. “I think the coolest part of my husband shaving his face was getting to see him look in the mirror at himself and watching my husband fall in love with himself.”
Bunnie further acknowledged how Jelly Roll’s body image had affected his daily mindset.
“Battling weight and being called names everyday and just living with that burden of the weight on him every day takes a toll on somebody’s self-esteem,” Bunnie said. “He’s getting comments like, ‘You look so hot,’ or, ‘You look so healthy,’ or, ‘I’m so proud of you.’ That just lifts his spirit so much.”

She continued, “Being able to see him look into that mirror and be, like, ‘Yeah, I’m hot.’ It was so cool. It was really cool to see. I’m proud of him.”
Jelly Roll, 41, has been steadily losing weight since 2024 — and is now down over 200 pounds.
“I just remember everyone telling me GLP-1s, or taking the Ozempic or the Mounjaro, ‘Listen, it’s gonna hurt your stomach a little bit,’” the singer (real name Jason DeFord) told Men’s Health in a profile published earlier this month. “I’ve treated my body so badly, I can’t believe God gave me this voice for this long. I didn’t deserve it. I literally didn’t do it out of fear.”
Jelly Roll ultimately opted against taking a GLP-1 to slim down, instead overhauling his diet and exercise while incorporating the type 2 diabetes drug metformin. He also worked with a licensed therapist to treat his addiction to food.

“Even before I got into getting my blood work done, I went and got mental health therapy about my overeating,” he explained to the outlet. “I started treating my food addiction like what it was: an addiction. Why did I treat cocaine a certain way? I went to meetings for cocaine and found a sponsor and detoxed off of it and s*** myself and went through real hard life-changing emotional choices to get off cocaine and codeine. I didn’t look at the food addiction differently. Once I started treating food like an addiction, it started changing everything for me.”
Jelly Roll now feels better than ever.
“I feel like I’m a teenager, dog,” he joked to Men’s Health. “I have the sex drive of a 17-year-old again. I’m f***ing pouncing on my wife. We’re having daytime sex again. It’s f***ing awesome. [Before the weight loss] my testosterone level — and I’m cool to talk about this openly — was of a preteen boy.”
Jelly Roll and Bunnie have been married since 2016, where they struggled with intimacy.
“My sex life with my wife was horrible,” he recalled on a December 2025 episode of Joe Rogan’s eponymous podcast. “I married a f***ing big-tittied, blond, beautiful woman, you know what I mean? I married the kind of woman that makes you smile when you cry. I couldn’t even get aroused, I was so big.”
