For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Renee Nealon has verbally committed to swim for the University of Notre Dame beginning with the 2026-27 school year. She publicized the news on social media, writing:
I am so blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame!! Thank you so much to my family, friends, coaches, and everyone who has helped me along the way! I would also to give a huge thank the coaching staff at Notre Dame for giving me this incredible opportunity! GO IRISH!!
A senior at Duchesne Academy in Houston, Texas, Nealon has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming & diving team since her freshman year. She also swims year-round with Dads Club Swim Team, where she primarily specializes in the 50/100 freestyle. Her next best events are a tossup between the 200 free and 100 fly.
Nealon’s personal bests include 23.28 in the 50 free, 50.38 in the 100 free, and 1:51.34 in the 200 free, all set in 2024 or earlier. Her most recent best time is 56.13 in the 100 fly, set in 2025.
In high school competition, Nealon’s biggest meet of each season is the Southwest Preparatory Conference Championship, the premier meet for private high schools in Texas and Oklahoma. It’s separate from the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and is akin to a typical state championship meet.
She is the defending champion in the 100 fly, having clocked her personal best to win the title last February, while also adding a runner-up finish in the 100 breast in 1:05.85, an off event for her. In 2024, she swept the sprint freestyles with times of 23.55 in the 50 free and 50.38 in the 100 free, both personal bests at the time, with the 100 free still standing as her current lifetime best. She also placed second in the 200 free in 1:51.34, her current personal best in the event. As a freshman, she was second in the 100 free and third in the 200 free, meaning she’s never missed the podium.
The most high profile meet Nealon has qualified and competed at was the Winter Junior Championships in 2024, which is where she swam her 50 free PB. There, she placed 48th in the event in addition to 55th in the 100 free and 83rd in the 200 free.

Norment took over from Chris Lindauer, the former Notre Dame head coach who was named the head coach of the Stanford women’s team in May.
At the 2025 ACC Championships, the Notre Dame women placed 12th with 275 points after taking eighth in 2024, prior to the addition of Stanford, Cal, and SMU. It took times of 22.41, 48.72, and 1:46.56 to score in the freestyle events, and 52.69 in the 100 fly.
On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, Nealon would have ranked seventh in the freestyles and ninth in the 100 fly. She joins a sprint free-heavy recruiting class with several swimmers in the 22-high to 23-low and 49-high to 50-low range: Catie Brenneman (sprint free), Jaylee Hager (sprint free/back/fly), Averie Hager (sprint free/fly), Ellie Bina (distance free), Caroline Mulrooney, (IM/distance free), and Camryn Tilger (IM/middle-distance free). This group of incoming sprinters could form the foundation of Notre Dame’s future relay lineups as they develop together over the next four years.
