DJ Moore is Ready For His First NFL Playoff Game ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

There are a bunch of Chicago Bears players who are about to embark on their first playoff journey.

But no one on this team has traveled a journey like the one DJ Moore took to get here.

Moore, 28, has played in 131 regular-season NFL games. He has 608 receptions, 8,213 receiving yards, and 41 touchdown catches. The University of Maryland product also has 72 carries, 510 rushing yards, and a pair of ground scores. Moore has been one of the NFL’s most productive receivers throughout his eight-year career. And on Saturday night at Soldier Field, DJ Moore will play in his first-ever NFL playoff game. In fact, it will be Moore’s first postseason game since he was a senior in high school.

PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Bears vs. Packers — The One That Defines the Season

“It’s great,” Moore said (via Marquee) when reflecting on the moment. “When you look at it, no winning seasons since high school. It’s crazy. To be in this locker room, with these guys, especially my rookies, they make the game young again. You just have fun.”

I love hearing that a player has a jolt of youthful exuberance because he is about to play in a postseason game. That feeling is relatable. The buzz around Chicago has been unlike anything I have felt in quite some time. So you know the players are feeling it, too. Hence, it is easy to understand why someone like Moore, who hasn’t tasted the postseason since his high school days, is a little extra juiced for this one.

DJ Moore will play his first playoff game … SINCE HIGH SCHOOL!

What a year it has been for Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore. Don’t get me wrong. I know that the numbers were down in 2025. Moore played in all 17 of the Bears’ games, but finished with just 85 targets, 50 receptions, and 682 receiving yards. The 85 targets were his fewest since getting just 82 as a rookie in 2018. His 682 receiving yards represent a career-low. And yet, Moore has gladly sacrificed stats for team success. That tends to happen when you play 100+ games before experiencing your first winning season as a pro.

And let’s not get it twisted. DJ Moore has had some wonderful moments this season. His game-winning overtime touchdown against the Packers is an all-timer and will go down in franchise lore. Moore also threw his first-ever touchdown pass, which is pretty neat. He also was the recipient of the Bears’ 2025 Walter Payton Man of the Year award. And soon, Moore’s lengthy wait to make it into the postseason will officially come to an end.

So what is it like practicing for a playoff game for the first time since 2014?

“You can tell everything has been amped up, even our practices have been so,” Moore said. “There are a lot of bugs, a lot of butterflies going around, but we forced. Now we just have to go out and execute.”

I figured things would already be intense with first-year Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson leading the charge. Johnson seems to have a laser-focus on the task at hand this week because that is his standard mode of operation. Could you imagine how much more amped that guy could get? It might be the type of thing that gives Chicago’s football team an extra push. At a minimum, the “amped up” practices leading into game day should give the Bears no execuse to come out flat like they did against the Detroit Lions in the Week 18 regular-seaosn finale.

I’m not sure what the future holds for DJ Moore. The season isn’t even over yet, but that has not stopped a vocal segment of the fan base that from already cooking up trade scenarios including the veteran wideout with a one-way ticket out of town. I’m not ready to go down that rabbit hole right now. Perhaps that time will come at some point later in the offseason. Hopefully, it isn’t something we have to get to until late-February after an extended Bears postseason run.
