The NCAA officially denied a 6th year of eligibility for Trinidad Chambliss on Friday, one day after the Rebels were eliminated from the College Football Playoff.
Ole Miss is expected to appeal the decision, but that’s not the only recourse Chambliss and his camp will be taking. According to a statement from his attorney, Tom Mars, Chambliss’ “rights will be determined by the Mississippi judiciary” rather than NCAA executives.

I assume that Ole Miss will file an appeal with the NCAA. That said, there is now an opportunity to move this case to a level playing field where Trinidad’s rights will be determined by the Mississippi judiciary instead of some bureaucrats in Indianapolis who couldn’t care less about the law or doing the right thing.
With more litigation likely to come, it’s unclear how long this process will take. Chambliss also has the option of declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft. If Chambliss does ultimately earn another year of eligibility, he has already stated he plans to return to Ole Miss for next season.
Chambliss was one of college football’s breakout stars this season. He helped lead Ole Miss to its best-ever campaign as the Rebels went 13-2 and reached the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.
