Come See Where Caleb Williams is on the First QB Rankings of 2026 ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

We are just nine days into 2026, and we already have our first quarterback rankings release of the new year. And if you are a Bears fan wondering where Caleb Williams ranks, you’ve come to the right place. Plus, I think you will be pleasantly surprised to see where he checks in on this quarterback rankings list shared by The Ringer’s Steven Ruiz.

The Ringer Ranks Caleb Williams as the NFL’s 12th-Best QB Right Now

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams checks in at No. 12 on a ranking of 34 NFL quarterbacks. It has been quite the climb for Caleb, who began as The Ringer’s No. 23 quarterback entering the season. So to make the move all the way up to No. 12 is truly impressive. Way to go, Iceman.

PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Bears vs. Packers — The One That Defines the Season

Williams’ ranking puts him ahead of four-time Pro Bowler Jared Goff (13th), Super Bowl champion Jalen Hurts (14th), 49ers star Brock Purdy (16th), 2024 NFL Draft classmate Jayden Daniels (18th), and several other notable quarterbacks. Given where he ranks, being on the cusp of a top-10 spot puts him in some good company. Franky, I can’t remember the last time a Bears quarterback was put this high on a power rankings list. This is fun. I can get used to this!

Some highlights from the Caleb Williams season-in-review section:

“Williams still misses some layups, and his completion percentage (58.1 percent) fell way short of Ben Johnson’s preseason goal of a 70 percent rate. But that didn’t stop him from posting some of the best efficiency numbers the franchise has seen out of a young quarterback. The tape is pretty damn good, too. It’s not just that Williams has an otherworldly arm and can create plays out of structure; it’s also the quarterback-y stuff he does—the stuff he doesn’t get enough credit for.”

ARE WE GETTING A BEARS-PACKERS PLAYOFF SNOW GAME!?

“The 2024 first pick has already established himself as one of the very best quarterbacks at evading pressure and extending plays without doing it at the expense of his offense.”

“That ability to evade pressure and get a pass (or throwaway) off is a big reason why his completion percentage is so low. So don’t let that number fool you. Williams isn’t an inefficient player, even if he still has a lot of room to grow in the efficiency department. He’s a good quarterback with a ceiling that could land him in the elite tier eventually.”

Caleb Williams finished his second season with the Bears having thrown for 3,942 passing yards and posting a 90.1 passer rating. Williams also added 27 touchdowns to go against just seven interceptions. On the ground, Williams chipped in with 77 carries, 388 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns. And for good measure, Williams caught two passes for 22 yards — including his first ever receiving touchdown. It has been quite the year following Caleb’s developmental arc in Year 1 under Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson.

When I take a step back and look at things, I view Caleb’s second season in Chicago as an undeniable success. And while I realize that not everyone will agree with me, I feel better knowing that a notable analyst outside of our realm in the Windy City views Williams in a positive light. After all, his play merits such praise.

BEARS VS. PACKERS — BLEACHER NATION STAFF PREDICTIONS

Of course, this season isn’t over yet. Caleb Williams and his Bears teammates are preparing for a playoff showdown against the Green Bay Packers. I’m not sure how a playoff run could impact where Williams ranks going into next season, but I can imagine him getting a boost if he has a strong showing — which would be gin by taking down the Bears’ longest-running rival.
