Chase Grisi, an Ohio State Champion in the boys’ 200 freestyle, has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Minnesota this fall.
“I am ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic endeavors at the University of Minnesota. I want to thank my family, coaches, friends, and God for being there for me every step of this process. I would also like to thank the Minnesota coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity. Go Gophers!!!” Grisi lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is currently a senior at Cincinnati Saint Xavier High School. He swims club with the Cincinnati Marlins, and he recently raced at the 2025 Speedo Winter Juniors Championships, where he finished 11th in the 50 free (20.10), 59th in the 100 fly (49.37), and 43rd in the 200 fly (1:50.22).At the OHSAA Division I State Championships, Grisi won the 200 freestyle in a personal best 1:36.89. He also swam the 100 fly, finishing 3rd in 48.89, which was a slight add from his personal best 48.78 that he swam in December of 2024.

50 free — 20.10 100 free — 45.09 200 free — 1:36.89 100 fly — 48.78 200 fly — 1:49.12Minnesota is a member of the Big Ten, and the men’s team finished 5th at last year’s Big Ten Championships, scoring 794.5 points to come in just over 80 points behind USC’s 878 for 4th place.
Grisi’s times put him near the top of the program in a few events. His 200 freestyle time would currently rank 2nd on the Minnesota team, only behind sophomore Daniel Eichel. He also sits at the top of the program in the 50 free, with his 20.10 from Winter Juniors coming in 2nd behind Jacob Johnson, another sophomore with the team. Both events will make him a potential relay contender as a freshman.
He sits just outside scoring position at the Big Ten Championships, with his 200 free time coming in just three tenths over the 24th place time of 1:36.52 last year.
He will join a recruiting class with Trevor Madigan, Joey Zelen, Hunter Huberg, Dawson Walters, Trevor Green, and Luca Ignatescu on campus in the fall.
