ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After two weeks of gray skies, we will finally see some sunshine later this afternoon. It will be milder as well, with highs in the low 40s.
Tomorrow we are closely monitoring blustery winds and rain. Wind speeds could reach 40 MPH area-wide. We are still Green on the Threat Tracker for now, but stay tuned for updates on the wind speed during the Noon show and 4pm broadcast. Rain showers will enter the region as well, some of which could be moderate to heavy in the morning. Temperatures will continue to rise, even reaching the upper 50s! These mild temperatures combined with the rainfall will help to melt snow, creating more runoff and perhaps some ponding on roads and minor flooding in creeks and streams. Right now however that does not look to be an impactful issue; rather it is the winds we are keeping a close eye on.
Saturday will be cooler behind the storm system, then another system come in later which will bring in rain and perhaps some mixed precipitation in the evening. Sunday sees the blustery winds return, with temperatures continuing to drop and lake effect snow starting back up. Stay tuned for updates on the location, timing, and amounts.
