Woman killed by ICE officer in Minneapolis was from Colorado, report says ...Middle East

News by : (The Denver Post) -

The driver shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday was a 37-year-old woman who moved to the area from Colorado, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune.

The woman, Renee Nicole Good, was identified by other mother, Donna Ganger, the newspaper reported.

9News on Wednesday also cited an unnamed family member who identified Good as the woman who was killed.

The shooting happened Wednesday morning when an officer approached an SUV stopped in the middle of the road and demanded the driver open the door and grabbed the handle, according to video recorded by bystanders.

The SUV then started pulling forward, and a different ICE officer standing in front of the vehicle fired two shots at close range before jumping back as it continued to move toward him.

The SUV then sped into two cars parked on a curb nearby.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the shooting as “an act of domestic terrorism” by a woman who “attempted to run them over and rammed them with her vehicle. An officer of ours acted quickly and defensively, shot, to protect himself and the people around him.”

That characterization was rebuffed by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who called it “garbage,” as well as Good’s mother, who told the Star Tribune her daughter was not involved in protests against ICE.

“Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” Ganger told the newspaper. “She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”

An Instagram page that appears to belong to Good describes her as a “poet and writer and wife and mom and… guitar strummer from Colorado; experiencing Minneapolis, MN.”

A message left for Ganger was not immediately returned on Wednesday.
