Former Auburn QB Jackson Arnold transferred into the program last offseason looking for a fresh start after playing his first 2 seasons at Oklahoma. However, it was an up-and-down season for Arnold, and he lost his job late in the year.
With Alex Golesh in as the new head coach, Arnold finds himself in the same spot a year later — looking for a fresh start.
According to multiple reports, Arnold has found a landing spot. On3’s Pete Nakos first reported on Wednesday that Arnold has signed a deal with UNLV.
Last season for the Tigers, Arnold finished with 1,309 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He also showcased his running ability, as he rushed for another 311 yards and 8 touchdowns. Prior to Auburn, he played in 2 seasons for the Sooners, finishing with 1,984 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.
UNLV is coming off a strong first season under coach Dan Mullen. The Rebels went 10-4 and made an appearance in the Mountain West Championship game.
Arnold will replace the departed Anthony Colandrea at the quarterback position, hoping for the same kind of success. Mullen rehabbed Colandrea’s career after he fell out of favor at Virginia. In Colandrea’s lone season with the Rebels, he led the Mountain West in passing and won the league’s Player of the Year award with 4,108 yards of total offense and 33 touchdowns.
