Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb’s coaching rise is climbing close to the stratosphere.
On Tuesday night, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Denver Post that the Raiders reached out to the Broncos to request an interview with the 30-year-old Webb for Las Vegas’ open head-coach position. Webb has been one of the hottest young names in the business ever since the start of the 2025 season, and now will receive his first official audition with an AFC West rival.
After six years in the NFL as a backup quarterback, Webb was hired by Sean Payton to coach Denver’s quarterbacks in 2023. After a year working with veteran Russell Wilson, Webb has helped develop 2024 first-round pick Bo Nix into one of the better young quarterbacks in the NFL.
“Well, I retired to hopefully do that kind of stuff, or else I would have kept playing for another five years,” Webb told The Denver Post last week, asked on swirling head-coaching buzz. “But in the same breath, I’ve got plenty to worry about this week and then hopefully a long playoff run. So, not really too (concerned). I mean, it will all work out.
“But I really enjoy my job here. I enjoy this quarterback room. This is fun, and I love living here.”

In 2017, the Rams made Sean McVay the youngest head coach in modern NFL history after hiring him away from Washington. Even then, McVay had three years as an offensive coordinator under his belt; Webb has just three years of general-position coach experience, and hasn’t yet served as a play-caller.
In a preseason contest against Arizona, though, Webb was handed the play-calling reins and widely impressed in a 27-7 win. Denver third-string quarterback Sam Ehlinger told The Post in late December that developing under Webb was a “big part” of his decision to remain with the Broncos this season, despite several offers to sign elsewhere.
“He’s extremely detailed, super diligent in his preparation,” Ehlinger told The Post. “Sees the game better than anybody I’ve been around. … So, I think his ceiling is a very successful head coach, at some point. I’m excited to see him get an opportunity to call plays eventually.”
