Two Joliet residents were arrested after stealing an estimated $5,000 worth of Funko Pop figures from an apartment this past weekend, authorities said.
Demetrius Greene, 41, was taken into custody for robbery and violating pre-trial release, while Stacey Jones, 46, was apprehended for residential burglary, Joliet police said in a news release. According to authorities, on Saturday afternoon, Greene and Jones entered an apartment along Marble and Summit street to retrieve a personal item.
Once inside, the pair began stuffing collectible Funko Pop figures into garbage bags, even though the tenant told them to stop and leave, police said. The figures didn’t belong to the suspects.
When the tenant tried to prevent Greene and Jones from leaving, Greene allegedly pushed him against a table. The pair then left the apartment using a rideshare service. Police later pulled over the rideshare vehicle near North Larkin Avenue and Vernon Avenue; both Greene and Jones were located in the back seat with the figurines.
The suspects were taken to the Joliet Police Department and later booked at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
