American Flyers Diving’s Mitchell Caldwell has committed to the University of Arizona as a part of the Wildcats’ 2026 recruiting class.

Caldwell was ranked as the #8 diving recruit by SwimSwam in the ranking of the top 10 diving recruits in the boys’ high school class of 2026.

Caldwell is the reigning Ohio High School Division 1 State Champion on 1-meter, winning with a score of 544.15, earning Solon High School their 5th consecutive state championship title on 1-meter.

In 2019, Caldwell won the USA Diving Junior National Championships, he then went on to compete in Chile for Team USA at the Junior Pan American Championships where he finished 8th on 1-meter, and 9th on both 3-meter and platform. At just 11 years old.

Caldwell boasts a best 11 dive score on 1-meter from the OHSAA NE District Championship in February in 614.95. She also holds a 6 dive best score on 1-meter of 272.35 from a high school dual meet in January of 2023.

Caldwell began diving because his sister, Kayley, who started as a gymnast (as did Mitchell), and she later switched over to diving, and he followed in her footsteps.

1-meter (6 Dives): 272.35 1-meter (11 Dives): 614.95

The Arizona men finished runners-up to Arizona State at the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships a season ago.

Arizona’s highest finisher in the 1-meter came in the Gage Dubois (, who finished 6th with a score of 305.80. Colin Agor, at the time a freshman, finished atop the ‘B’ final of the event in 328.85.

The Wildcats scored the 3rd most points on 1-meter of any team at Big 12s last season, only behind TCU and Utah).

The 3-meter was a similar story; Arizona accumulated the 3rd most points in the event with 64, only TCU (69) and BYU (67) scored more in the event as a whole.

Caldwell joins Lucas Huckabay, Grant Pier, Nazar Zoukovski, Cole Fault, Vito Sgroi, Lucas Morin, and Will Harrison in the Wildcast’s 2026 recruiting class.
