Announced at American tech show CES, LEGO has unveiled three new LEGO Star Wars sets to launch the Smart Play system. These sets will be able to emit lightsaber sounds, flashing lights and even Star Wars music in real time as you move and play with the LEGO bricks.

According to LEGO, the system uses three elements: the Smart Brick, Smart Minifigures and Smart Tags and includes more than 20 patented technologies, all designed to make the toys respond in real time. That means engines roar when ships move, lightsabers hum during battles, and scenes change depending on which characters are involved.LEGO has made it clear that no screens or AI have been used in the product at all, and that all effects are being automatically generated in real time. According to Wired, LEGO “insists there are no pre-recorded clips of lightsabers or other pieces of audio being used as a cheat.”
