Auburn has earned a commitment from South Florida quarterback transfer Byrum Brown.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett was first to share that news on Tuesday morning. Brown has been linked to Auburn since he announced intentions to enter the transfer portal last month. He was a multi-year starter at USF, meaning he has a long history of working with new Auburn head coach Alex Golesh and offensive coordinator Joel Gordon.

As a passer, Brown has been prolific. He has two seasons (2025 and 2023) with over 3,000 passing yards. Auburn has not had a 3,000-yard passer since Jarrett Stidham in 2017. Stidham is the only Auburn quarterback to accomplish that feat in the 21st century.
Brown also had a career-best season as a passer from an efficiency standpoint in 2025. He averaged 9.3 yards per attempt and posted a passer efficiency rating of 167.1, both of which are career-highs by a significant margin.
He’ll be expected to serve as Auburn’s starting quarterback in 2026 and will be replacing a trio of quarterbacks who, cumulatively, were responsible for the second-worst passer efficiency rating (123.75) in the SEC this season. Each of Jackson Arnold, Ashton Daniels and Deuce Knight are expected to transfer elsewhere this offseason.
