Six teams across six states gathered at the IU Natatorium for the 2026 Mid-States All-Star Championships. 10-Year-Old Gabriel Brown, representing Team Indiana, who recently had a stellar showing at the Santa Claus Classic to close out 2025, headlined the performances here, with six individual event wins, numerous top times, and climbed the all-time top 10 & Under performers lists.

Brown, who was an honorable mention for SwimSwam’s 10 & Under swimmer of the year Swammy Award, set new meet records in each of his six individual races, clocking a best time in five of them. He notched his fastest-ever 100 freestyle time of 55.12, improving on his status as the 2nd-fastest this season and moving him up to the 22nd-fastest 10 & under in history.

The 200 freestyle also marked a major swim for Brown; he clocked a major time drop to 1:57.98, bettering his already top time in the age group this season and moving him up to the 5th fastest performer of all time for 10 & unders.

Brown’s success went beyond freestyle; he notched the 100 IM win in 1:02.96, the 2nd fastest time in the age group this season, and jumps him up to the 15th fastest performer in the 10 & under age group. He added another IM win, this time in the 200 IM, touching in 2:14.48, improving on his 3rd-fastest time in the age group this season and moving up to 8th all-time for 10 & unders.

Brown also clipped a best time in the 100 breast, stopping the clock in 1:12.24, the 2nd fastest in the country this season, and 54th fastest all time. Brown did win the 100 backstroke, an event in which he ranks 2nd this season, but did not top his previous best of 1:01.93, still turning in a meet-record effort of 1:02.24.

Clara Lauritzen, 12, who represented Team Michigan, won six events on the meet as well, setting best times in all six of her 11-12 victories. In the 100 back, Lauritzen touched in 59.21, a time that currently ranks her as the 5th fastest 11-12 girl in the nation this season. She put forth her fastest-ever 50 butterfly performance of 26.33, the 4th fastest in the 11-12 age group this season. She added a 100 fly win in 57.59, a time that ranks her as the 2nd fastest 11-12 performer this season.

Lauritzen added another win in the 100 Free, clocking 52.99, the 3rd-fastest 11-12-year-old girl this season. Her 200 Free time of 1:55.89 ranks 3rd fastest in the age group this season, and her 200 IM time of 2:08.13 is the fastest 11-12 year-old girls’ time of the season.

12-year-old Claire Liu from Team Kentucky had great performances of her own in the 11-12 age group. Liu set a new meet record in the 200 back, with her final time of 2:05.93 now the fastest in the age group this season. Liu picked up another meet record in the 100 IM, clocking 1:00.89, and made herself the 6th fastest performer this season.

10-Year-Old Elizabeth Burke of Team Wisconsin picked up four wins in her five events, topping the final times in the 50 fly (30.36), 100 fly (1:06.00), 100 breast (1:17.37), and 200 IM (2:24.44).

Other Notable Performances:

Charleeze Medford, 10, won a pair of events for Team Minnesota, including the 50 free (28.18) and 100 free (1:00.87). Nolan Munur, 12, won five of his six events in the boys 11-12 age group. Munur topped the final results in the 50 back (27.43), 50 fly (25.30, which ranks him 12th in the nation), 100 fly (56.88 ), 50 Freestyle (23.77), and 100 Freestyle (50.89). Elliot Leasure of Team Minnesota added five wins in the 13-14 boys age group, including the 100 Backstroke (49.89, a new meet record), 200 back (1:48.37), 200 fly (1:53.00), 200 IM (1:53.18), and the 400 IM (4:06.03). Kate Allen, 13, of Team Indiana, brought home three wins in the 13-14 girls age group, including a meet record in the 200 IM, touching in 2:00.24, making her the fastest 13-year-old in the nation this season. She also added wins in the 50 free (23.56) and the 500 free (4:53.37). Grace Gannon, 13, of Team Indiana, also won three 13-14 girls events, including the 200 breast (2:17.21), 400 IM (4:24.40), and the 1650 free (17:06.76).
