ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monroe County reported that 11 people have died from the flu so far this season. New York state is experiencing its worst flu season in years, reports say.
Monroe County recorded nearly 2,200 new flu cases in the week ending Dec. 27, with Wayne and Ontario counties also reporting hundreds of cases.
Officials said the best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu shot. They also advised frequent handwashing and staying home if sick.
