Damascus, Jan. 5 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Health signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday with the UAE-based Jaheziya Foundation to launch a joint medical preparedness initiative aimed at strengthening Syria’s ability to respond to emergencies and disasters.

The Ministry said the program, titled “Jaheziya Syria,” is designed to improve the readiness of Syria’s healthcare system through standardized training and capacity-building for medical staff in both public and private hospitals. The initiative will follow international standards and modern scientific methodologies to enhance coordinated medical responses during crises.

The project will begin with a three-month pilot phase, during which 200 healthcare workers are expected to receive specialized training. The longer-term plan spans five years and focuses on sustainable capacity-building within Syria’s health sector.

According to representatives from Jaheziya, the initiative prioritizes human capital as the first line of defense in emergencies. Training will target doctors, nurses, emergency and ambulance teams, civil defense personnel, as well as medical and administrative leadership.

The initiative is part of the Health Ministry’s broader efforts to strengthen public health outcomes and develop Syria’s national healthcare system.
