Midwest couple found dead after dentist husband misses work, sparking concerns ...Middle East

News by : (NBC Chicago) -

Authorities in Ohio are searching for video evidence that may lead to the identification of whoever killed a dentist and his wife while their children were home earlier this week.

In a Facebook post, the Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit asked anyone with videos or photographs of suspicious individuals or vehicles to submit them as part of the investigation into the murders of Monique Tepe and Spencer Tepe.

The couple’s bodies were found after several worried friends and colleagues called police concerned that Spencer had not shown up to work and that Monique was not answering her phone.

Authorities received at least four calls from co-workers and loved ones starting around 9 a.m on Dec 30. In the first one, the owner of Spencer’s dental practice is heard telling an operator that Spencer is never late for work and always checks in before missing a day, NBC News reported.

An hour later, a second person called 911 from outside the home. The individual said he could hear children inside the house but had no way of getting inside. Then, at 10 a.m., Spencer’s friend, Alex Ditty, reported seeing a body inside before breaking down into tears.

“There’s blood. He’s laying next to his bed, off of his bed, and there’s blood. I can’t get closer to see more than that,” the friend said, according to 911 logs.

Both Monique and Spencer were located inside the home by first responders and were pronounced dead. Their two children were found inside unharmed.

Investigators have ruled out a murder-suicide and are treating the case as a homicide, officials said.

Spencer and Monique had gotten married inside the home where they were killed, family said, and were a month shy of celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary.

A relative said the couple’s children – who are just one and four years old – were the center of their lives.

“They’re just amazing parents,” family member Rob Misleh said. “And their kids are beautiful. They did such a great job. And you know, we have a huge community that now will obviously step in and help raise these children.”

Misleh said he never saw Monique and Spencer without a smile on their faces.

“They were so warm,” he shared. “Their place in Columbus was just where everybody gathered. They always had people over. Always having fun. Just great people.”
