The UNC men’s and women’s basketball teams look to bounce back Saturday in Big Sky Conference games against Montana.

The UNC women host the Grizzlies (3-9, 0-1 Big Sky) at 2 p.m. at Bank of Colorado Arena. The men visit Montana (7-7, 1-0) at 4 p.m. at Dahlberg Arena in Missoula.

The men, following an historic win over the University of Colorado to wrap up the nonconference schedule, lost on the road 89-75 at Montana State. UNC is 10-4 overall and 0-1 in the Big Sky. The Bears have lost three of their last four games dating to nonconference games in mid-Dcember.

The UNC women outscored Montana State 50-36 in the second half at home Thursday evening to rally from an early deficit. The visiting Bobcats, the defending Big Sky regular-season and conference tournament champions, held on for an 86-79 victory. Montana State outscored UNC 36-11 in the first quarter and 50-29 in the first half. UNC is 9-5 overall and 0-1 in the Big Sky.

Sophomore guard Neenah George is the leading scorer for the UNC women’s team. George is averaging 14.3 points per game — one of three Bears averaging in double figures. Junior forward Tatum West is averaging 10.9 points and sophomore guard Heather Baymon is averaging 10.3 points. West is the top rebounder at 8.6 per game.

Men’s guard Quinn Denker returned from injury against CU to score a career-best 33 points. He leads the Bears at 18.3 points through 12 games. He had 14 points against Montana State. Denker’s been named Big Sky Conference men’s player of the week three times this season.

Senior forward Brock Wisne is the second-leading scorer (15.8 points) and tied for first in rebounds (6.2 rpg). Graduate guard Zach Bloch is averaging 13.2 points and junior transfer Ibu Yamazaki is averaging 10.1 points.
