Much like any coach facing the media after such a high-profile loss, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer found himself searching for answers Thursday night following the Crimson Tide’s 38-3 beatdown by the Indiana Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl.
DeBoer, who finished his second season at Alabama with the most lopsided loss in Alabama postseason history, described the complexity of emotions among the Crimson Tide players.
“It is a lot of emotions right now shared in the locker room,” DeBoer said to reporters after the College Football Playoff quarerfinal. “We can be upset, because losing doesn’t sit well with us. We can be frustrated about it, and that’s what our program is going to be – be upset when these situations happen. We’ve use this as fuel going forward.
“I’m going to be proud. I am going to proud of these guys, proud of who they are and what they’ve accomplished. … The other emotion is to be sad for the guys. It is tough to look them in the eye when I think about what they have given to me and to the program – everything they’ve got.”
